Forget targeting just Millennials - Gen Alpha, the generation born after 2010, is already wielding surprising influence over household spending. A new survey reveals nearly half of Millennial parents are swayed by their children's opinions. Interestingly, almost all these parents, 95%, learn about new brands directly from their kids. These tech-savvy youngsters are even earning their own money and becoming "mini-consumers" with a fondness for high-end brands and online shopping. As a result, 64% of parents are more likely to buy certain brands due to their child's influence, and 40% are even purchasing more high-end items.
This influence extends beyond products, with Gen Alpha showing social awareness and a preference for brands that align with their values. Nearly 70% of parents stated their child understands corporate values and expresses preference for brands that support social causes, particularly diversity and sustainability. So, while they may be young, Gen Alpha is proving to be a powerful force in the world of shopping. Brands that take note of their preferences and values will be well-positioned to win their – and their parents' – loyalty in the years to come.
