Retail observers have long speculated about a link between Target and the online seller Bullseye Deals, known for offering Target-like merchandise at significantly lower prices. Recent reports have confirmed these suspicions. Target has been selling its excess inventory, encompassing returned items and discontinued products, to Liquidity Services, Inc., the company operating Bullseye Deals. These salvaged goods are then resold to consumers through Bullseye Deals' accounts on eBay and Poshmark.
This strategy offers a win-win scenario for both Target and thrifty shoppers. Target mitigates the financial burden of disposing of unwanted inventory and retains some control over the liquidation of its private label brands. Consumers, on the other hand, benefit from the opportunity to acquire Target products at a substantial discount. While the practice of selling excess inventory isn't uncommon in the retail industry, the close resemblance of Bullseye Deals' branding to Target and the sheer variety of items it sells (from slightly used toys to new home goods) make this a unique case study in salvage management within the retail landscape.
